[April 19, 2010] Project monitoring visit
Astra Museum was honored on Monday, April 19th, by the visit of His Excellency the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway in Romania and of a group of representatives from the Ministry of Finances of Romania – the National Focal Point for the EEA Financial Mechanism, who were in an observation visit of the objectives of Museum`s project financed through the EEA Grants, Conservation and Restoration of the Ethnographic Heritage in Dumbrava Sibiului.
The distinguished guests undertook a guided itinerary through Astra Museum of Traditional Folk Civilization along which they could visit the construction field of Astra Centre for Heritage and of the four ethnographic monuments being in reconstructed in the Open Air Museum, as part of the above -mentioned project.
His Excellency, Mr. Øystein Hovdkinn, expressed his admiration towards the heritage conserved within the Museum whose diversity and value, natural beauty of the scenery and impressive dimensions of the open air exhibition fascinated him, stating :`(…) It is certainly the most magnificent museum I have seen in Romania. Let me also finally say that I am happy to see how well the EEA/Norwegian funds have been spent here.`
Following the visit, the Ambassador addressed thanks to the museum`s specialists for an enjoyable presentation performed along the tour, emphasizing his satisfaction with regard to the development of Astra Museum`s heritage conservation initiative - the second cultural project, of up to 3 mil. Euro, regarding the value of the EEA Financial Mechanism funds in Romania.
